ChatGPT Blog Experiment

The Generative AI blog "Webschool" is a project to experiment with content generated by ChatGPT.

It was conducted to verify whether using text generated by ChatGPT on a website would cause any SEO issues.

Additionally, it also serves to verify the Astro Notion Blog platform, which uses Notion as a CMS.

1. Project Overview

  • Content: Blog construction & operation
  • Purpose:
    • To experiment whether content generated by Generative AI affects SEO.
    • To verify if the Astro Notion Blog platform, which uses Notion as a CMS, can be used without issues.
  • URL: https://webschool.jp
  • Role:
    • Blog construction ... Utilizing Astro Notion Blog published on Github.
    • Article posting ... Utilizing ChatGPT.
  • Results: Confirmed that several keywords, such as "on-page SEO," ranked high in search results.

2. Findings: Content Creation with Generative AI

Search data of the Generative AI blog

Confirmed that the content was indexed without issues and ranked high for niche keywords.

In other words, blogs created solely with Generative AI did not incur penalties from Google and were treated the same as regular blogs.

However, my personal opinion is that blogs created solely with Generative AI have limited benefits for the following reasons:

  • No matter how much effort is put into prompts, the content lacks individuality and is not interesting, making it difficult to compete for highly competitive keywords. Therefore, I believe that the method of automating article creation/blog operation using Generative AI does not work.
  • When I tried to proofread content drafted by Generative AI, I found it difficult to improve and felt it was faster to rewrite it myself.

3. Findings: SEO of Astro Notion Blog

Settings for Google Tag Manager, GA4, and Google Search Console were done without issues.

The template lacks robots.txt and a sitemap, which caused an issue where about 3000 non-existent URLs were crawled in the Google Search Console report. After manually setting up robots.txt and a sitemap, the issue was resolved. Despite the issue, the non-existent URLs were not indexed in Google search, indicating that Google handled it.

Writing directly in Notion and publishing it as is allowed for a very fast posting process. When creating new blogs in the future, it could be a strong candidate depending on the use case.
