Case Study: Achieved No.1 Ranking for 'Hawaii Hotel' through Guest Post SEO Strategy

Overview

During my stay in Hawaii in 2016, I implemented promotional strategies for the official websites of each hotel of the client (about 15 companies).

Users often made reservations via online travel agencies (such as Expedia and Booking.com), so the challenge was to increase the recognition and traffic of the official website.

In response to this, we aimed to approach users who search for 'Hawaii Hotel' related keywords through SEO strategies.

Challenges

  • Low recognition of the official website.
  • Users tend to make reservations via online travel agencies.
  • Need to increase web traffic and reservation numbers for each official website.

Goals

  1. Improve the recognition of each official website, increase monthly reservations.
  2. Rank in the top of the search engine for 'Hawaii Hotel' related keywords and continuously increase traffic.

Strategy & Implementation

  1. Contribution to curation site (Find Travel):
    • We aimed for top display in general words in Google search by using the strong authority of the media and the technique of on-page SEO in long articles.
    • We contributed 4 SEO articles like 'Recommended Resort Hotels in Hawaii' to Find Travel.
    • We guided traffic by pasting the link of the client's website in each article.
    • As a backlink construction, we set up a link from Naver summary article to the relevant article.
  2. Contribution to Naver summary:
    • We aimed to acquire traffic within the same media, and when successful, we guided traffic by pasting the link of the client's website in the created article.
    • The methods of acquiring traffic are top search in site search within Naver summary, acquisition of Naver summary frame displayed in Yahoo Japan search, top display in Google search, etc.
    • We cooperated with everyone in the team and posted about 30 related articles to Naver summary.

Results

  • Find Travel: Achieved 1st place for 'Hawaii Hotel', 'Waikiki Hotel' and other long tails (such as recommended, resort, etc.). About 30 reservations per month, sales of 6 million, and about 15,000 clicks to the site occurred.
  • Naver summary: Monthly PV was 50,000, and about 1,500 clicks to the site occurred per month.

Conclusion

By using guest posts for SEO strategies and content marketing, we significantly improved the visibility and traffic of the client's official website, leading to an increase in monthly reservations and sales.
