Overview

In 2014, I was assigned the task of redesigning the website for a small luxury hotel condominium in Hawaii, which had an average of only 10 bookings per month. Our goal was to stop the decrease trend in bookings/web traffic, and turn the trend around through strategic marketing efforts.

Objectives

Strategy & Implementation

  1. Website Redesign: We developed the new website’s design and content, emphasizing the hotel's USPs, such as its proximity to a world-renowned golf course, its location at one of the world’s top three power spots, and its economical advantage for large group stays.
  2. SEO and Content Marketing: We regularly posted SEO-optimized blog articles featuring local tourism information, aiming to rank higher for keywords such as “Hawaii Island Golf Course.”
  3. Advertising and Outreach: We expanded reach through SEM ads and direct advertising on portal sites. Additionally, built high-quality backlinks through guest postings on external media.

Results

  • Bookings: The average monthly bookings tripled to 30 by 2017.
  • Web Traffic: Monthly page views doubled from 7,000 to 13,000.
  • Search Engine Rankings: Achieved the top position on Google for target keywords like “Hawaii Island Golf Course.”

Conclusion

Through the website refresh, effective SEO/content marketing strategies, and targeted advertising, we significantly enhanced the client’s online presence and achieved their business goals.
